hammam Posted September 25, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have installed firmware 1_107, but I have taken only a few photos since (too busy working.) Have they improved the Auto WB with this version? I think it looks better, especially under tungsten. Or am I deluded and this is only placebo effect? Advertisement Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Hi hammam, Take a look here Firmware 1_107 and auto WB. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
35mmSummicron Posted September 25, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2007 FW 1.107 apparently has improved auto white balance from the previous versions, but in my opinion it is still absolutely useless. i typically only shoot DNG with the M8 and am used to adjusting settings prior to processing the file, however i had to do some scouting of props for a big ad shoot i was working on. set the camera on small JPG and AWB thinking i could use the M8 as pretty much a point n shoot (since i dont own one). boy was i in for a surprise. TERRIBLE white balance, so far off its not even funny. had to do DRASTIC adjustments in photoshop to bring them back in line. thankfully the M8's true strengths lie in shooting RAW files..... /a
