Surprisingly the contrast is perfect for low light use (when contrast tends to be higher), you have to be careful of a strong directional light source or flare is very apparent (Although I like what it does)

All in all I found sharpness/contrast excellent I will post some tests later BTW I have seen posted examples from this lens and they seem have a wide variant some look really bad, i.e. to soft and to low in contrast, others look like really good summilux images, I imagine that QC was spotty in that era.

The great thing about the M8 is that if someone spots one for sale they can pretty much see at once if the lens is performing.

Guy don't forget I owe you a print!

Here is another wide open, this lens is extremely sharp I love it!

Wide open you have to be very exacting on focus- time for a magnifier!

Here is a picture of the Canon 50mm f/0.95, to keep things moving. Unfortunately, it is a display piece, and I could not try it.

It's a tough call either way . I do love my WATE a lot and i will never be able to buy one at todays prices again but the same is true for the Nocti. I have right now 12mm CV, WATE , 24,28 and 35 cron. Now if i sold the WATE , i could get a zeiss 18mm F4 and than have a nice selection 12, 18, 24. That should cover anything i run across but that damn WATE is sweet as pie. Mine has the adapter from John and the leica filter too. Peter your Nocti of the new style

:o Ok, slightly off topic (a lot) but what constitutes a calibrated M8 vs. a new in the box unit? I'm looking at purchasing a new M8 next week.

Regards,

All it means is it's my newest M8 body that focuses perfectly with all my other M lenses so I know this particular Canon lens with this particular LTM to M adapter is also calibrated. No need to worry about anew M8 --- worst case if your M8 is out of adjustment, you can send it to NJ for adjusment.

Cheers,
