Daniel Ortego Posted September 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not sure how to phrase this one but here it goes. I want to place my on-line order for a new silver/chrome M8 but I have heard some horror stories about on-line camera stores. Any advice with regards to reputable distributors at a fair price would be appreciated. It pretty much looks like the going rate is $4950.00 without anything; no battery – zip! Caveat: I’m not interested in a used offering; too many variables to worry about. BTW: Sorry if this isn't the correct forum but I'm still feeling my way around. Artichoke Posted September 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2007 such as popflash or B&H Photo both of whom have stellar reputations Tamarkin in NYC is another well respected Leica dealer ...I have done business with all these folks using online/phone purchases & never had a problem I don't think shopping around will help much as the price is pretty firm still & I agree with you about buying used ...the market is not all that robust, with the price difference not really worth the risk of hassles btw, I believe a battery & charger still ships with the camera
bradreiman Posted September 24, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi Dude-I bought mine from Leo's camera in Vancouver (Dave Donaldson). Great service and they shipped it to me in the states alleviating taxes, of course the exchange rate was better last november. I'm about to buy a second body here in Auckland and if the exchange rate holds for a few days it will cost me under usd4200....B

I bought one from Toronto, for the US price. My advice is to buy from the States right now. Roger

Murphy’s Law; B&H is closed and won’t accept or process any new orders before 7 October and Popflash phone lines have been busy since Monday. Sammy’s Camera store said nobody’s has a silver/chrome so I remain a man without a solution. Regards,

Shootist Posted September 27, 2007 Share #16 Posted September 27, 2007 Well jump fast as it seems everything Leica is going up. I bought a 50mm Lux (chrome) from B&H on Sunday night for $2895 and on Tuesday when I checked the price and availability on the B&H website, it was now Out Of Stock (Lucky I got mine when I did) the lens had gone up by $100.
