This lens can be sharp @f2 - and I really like the OOF highlight rendering

I like the pictures a lot but the vignette seems to be a bit exaggerated... Did you post your scans? I have the SR reissue end use it on both the M10R and M10M and I never noticed such a strong vignette. Not a critic. It is fine to tune scans or even dodge end burn at print (I still have film lab in my basement 😉

Ektar 100 and Leica MP, film is the perfect medium for the New Steel Rim, specially when shooting against the light.

I watched your youtube video regarding the re-issue 35mm Steel Rim.  I very much enjoyed it.  I was also considering the 35mm Steel Rim to go with my Leica MP.  I mainly use the 35mm APO Summicron on my Leica M11-P.  I think the Steel Rim would go very nicely with film.

Thank you, greatly appreciated. It is the lens which is on my silver Chrome MP about 95% if the time, makes for a perfect match, light and reliable in all conditions. I do not use the lens shade or any of the hoods which came with it. I just put a silver Leica lens filter on it. The APO is great on digital but the Steel Rim re-issue is something else, smaller and great on color and black and white film.

I love the small size of the lens, lack of CA in high contrast situation and the rendition is very good with film, just shot and dropped at Nation Photo in Paris for development, scan and prints this Monday, just received the scans.

Combined with an MP, it makes for a light weight and capable one camera, one lens combo, even in less than ideal conditions it delivers

The images posted here are absolutely inspirational.  I am trying to learn to shoot in 35mm focal length,  having shot 80% of the time 50mm for the last 15 years with 28mm the other 20%. I will keep the 35mm steel rim glued to my Leica MP and the 35mm APO glued to my M11-P.  I hope in a year I can produce images half as good as these samples on this thread.  I will earn to see in 35mm.

Thanks

I was in the same boat, having shot mostly with 50s for almost 20 years. And for over a year now I have been shooting at least 50% of the time with the SR reedition.

Have fun !
