robb Posted October 21, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can owners share the most common workflows for the S files? I enjoy using Lightroom classic for my SL2 and M files and then export and finalize in Photoshop. I don’t ever use camera raw. I can use capture one but find that in most cases, it slows down my workflow and might over complicate it. I don’t shoot weddings or huge portrait sessions so have no need for assembly line processing but enjoy the general processes in Lightroom classic. I typically shoot about 50-300 images to edit through for 10-50 final images on a location shoot in a typical couple hour project. Mostly architecture, infrastructure with some location portraits. I anticipate doing more environmental portraits with 3-5 people at any particular location. I typically don’t tether. I am also curious as to workflow on hasselblad files like on x1d / h6… do you have to use phocus on those files first? Can you use Lightroom with hassy files? Appreciate any pluses and minuses you can explain. thanks. Robb

mgrayson3 Posted October 21, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2022 Robb, I use LR for both, only going to PS if I need to do content aware fill or stacking that LR doesn't get right. I've compared Phocus to LR profiles and I don't see enough difference (so far) to justify the Phocus processing first, but then I don't do much (well, any) portraiture. Cobalt profiles are very good, I use them on the Leica S. Leica's own LR profile is also good, but is very different at a few extremes (violet, for example). Depending on how Hassy's and Adobe's X2D profiles look, I might purchase the Cobalt for the X2D when it arrives. But other than profiles, my workflows are identical. Capture One does have great color and wonderful color tools, but I usually don't go there. Something like green tint on skin from grass or foliage reflection is something Capture One is really good at. I do a lot of BW conversions, and LR is still my favorite for that, SilverFX notwithstanding. Matt
