dalippe Posted September 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) When importing M8 dng files into Lightroom, what difference, if any, is there between choosing: "Copy photos to new location and import" versus "Copy photos to dng and import" Thanks for any information. aj55 Posted September 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2007 The only thing I can say is that I have to place them on my harddrive first. If I import them from my card reader I loose a lot of dng's and get a lot of double's. Perhaps my computer? Otherwise I suspect you get duplicates either way. I use a seperate USB-drive for my Lightroom lib, and so always copy them while importing. Arnold
carstenw Posted September 23, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 23, 2007 The copy to DNG option converts from Leica's DNG file to Adobe's DNG style. Same file type, but Adobe's has compression, and there are probably other options. Some EXIF fields may go away too. I leave mine in the M8's style.
