Hi,

right know I´m using my Wate with the old 21-24-28 viewfinder, sometimes this is triky. So what about the forum members experience with the big baby. Maybe someone could be so nice to post an image of the M8 and the viewfinder, just to get an impression.

Thanks and all best

Frank

Franck the viewfinder is precise and accurate, easy to use and you'll forget it quickly.

It is even more precise than the integrate one with regular lenses like 28 or 50.

In fact, it was a package with my WATE and I do not regret it!

Thank´s Arnaud,

may I ask you if you´re wearing glasses. I do, so I would it would be interesting to know how conveniend the viewfinder is to someone who with glasses.

all best

Frank

by the way, after several jobs with the M8 I had to use the Canons again for two Jobs. I have to say, the leica lenses are really the best you can get.

By the way, after one day I lost the gummy eye protector that was more embarrassing than useful!

Does the rubber part just come off? I noticed that the whole unit unscrews, but I don't want to remove the part that holds diopters and covers the male threads.

It's big. An M8 with a WATE and its finder is inching up on DSLR size. More intriguing is the use of a WATE finder with a flat lens for a different type of compact camera.

The finder is bright, clear and the framelines are both accurate and easy to see.

In terms of the experience, if you are good with the skills required for target pistol shooting, you will be able to master using the bubble level in handheld use. That's the really compelling thing about the WATE finder. If your intended use is a tripod, you might use your existing finder and a bullseye level on the top deck of the camera.

Also, the WATE finder has a level of distortion commensurate with 15mm lens fixed finders - definitely enough that you cannot align straight lines in the frame on framelines (hence the built-in level) -so if all you are doing is using the WATE on an M8 for the equivalent of a 21, 24 and 28mm, the WATE finder is wasted capacity. I haven't seen the 21-24-28 finder, but it has to be more rectilinear.

The 21-24-28 finder is awful; at least the copy I looked at. Just as much distortion, and really soft corners. I was going to buy a WATE and this finder, but when I saw it I ordered the WATE finder instead. Although the workflow of M8+WATE+WATE Finder is awful, the finder itself is great. It is hard to judge verticals, but if you line up edges of buildings with the framelines, it works really well. I have not used the bubble yet.
