innerimager Posted September 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Due to the very positive experiences I have read here from users of this program, I'd like to check it out. I have a nikon 5000 scanner and currently use VueScan. I apologize, but I find the silverfsat site hard to decipher as to the many different versions, "Ai", AI studio", for "professionals", or "experts". I went to download an Ai studio demo for my Mac, only then discovered there is a color 600 and 1200 version, (no description of difference), I loaded the 600, and it doesn't find my scanner. So... any one know what version to use, how to get it, and any other advice? Thanks....Peter

Simon Larbalestier Posted September 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2007 I have the silverfast version for my Nikon 5000 ED it wasn't cheap but for me it's better than what i was getting with Vuecan which i've been using these last two years. I work with mainly TX 400 If you ping me an email i can give you the relevant email contact details for lasersoft to get you on the right track Simon
robsteve Posted September 23, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 23, 2007 Peter: Silverfast has specific downloads for specific scanners. When you download the demo, make sure you get the version for your particular scanner. I ran thought their download menus to find the Nikon 5000 and there was only two choices, Ai IT8 , and Ai Studio ME IT8. It looks like you need to get the more expensive Studio version to get multiple exposure capabilities with the Nikon scanner. innerimager Posted September 23, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted September 23, 2007 Hi guys- I did find my way to the coolscan version even before these responses, no thanks to there web site, I just googlrd the combo. I'm finding the interface and information very obtuse, but it appears the images are very high quality. I'll keep banging on it and see where it goes. I sure wish it were easier to set things like image size, frame offset, and many others though. best....Peter
