LeicaKyu2 Posted October 13, 2022 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got my eye on a Q2 Monochrom and came across a guy not terribly far from me selling his. Warranty just ran out and it also happens to be a ROW version. Seems like a legit person to do business with but is there anything I need to be weary or extra careful about before going to see the Q2M in person? Welcome, dear visitor! Herr Barnack Posted October 14, 2022 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2022 I would say have him bring the camera and accessories and meet you at a public place - a Starbucks, public library, etc. Do not meet him at his home. This first meeting, don't bring cash. Look at the camera, try to get a feel for the seller and tell him you will give it some thought and you will get in touch with him in a day or two. If the two of you agree on a price, have him meet you at his bank to pay him for it. Give him a cashier's check made by your bank, or if he will accept a personal check, go that route. If he wants cash, give it to one of the bank tellers to 1.) verify the correct amount and 2.) verify that none of the cash is counterfeit. Last of all, get a hard copy receipt from the seller with his signature on it. You cannot be too careful these days.

If it’s a private seller there’s no point on this. Obviously if a dealer/trader I agree. 10 hours ago, Herr Barnack said: You cannot be too careful these days. This is 100% true. Guest Posted October 14, 2022 Share #4 Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) @LeicaKyu2 see if there is a similar condition camera for the same or a little more expensive with a dealer, possibly with a warranty. LeicaKyu2 Posted October 14, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted October 14, 2022 Thanks for the input! I think I will steer away from the private sale and wait to travel abroad and use the strong $USD to my benefit.

Farrell Gallery Posted January 20, 2023 Share #7 Posted January 20, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've bought from private seller....you can tell a lot about the owner by looking at and using the camera. Look for scratches on the glass / LCD screen and if the deal is right, pay electronically.
BrettWayne Posted January 22, 2023 Share #8 Posted January 22, 2023 Somewhere out there is a database with stolen Leica serial numbers in it. It’s a good idea to check it because if for some reason it’s identified as stolen during a repair, cleaning, etc. you’ll lose it.

Not out of distrust, but I ended up "having to" make a trip a to Europe and ended up buying new while there. I came here in hope to find someone through which I can buy it but it makes me sad when I can't find any seller over here. I don't have enough money with me to buy a used Q2 Monochrom but then my friend told me to download loan money app through which I can get loan money instantly. Now, I have enough money to buy it and that is why I am looking for a seller online who can sell me the used Q2 Monochrom. Ok. thanks.
