johnbailey Posted August 16, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have any info on whether the Colorplan S projector lens can be used on non Leica projector equipment? I have a Zeiss Ikon Perkeo R2500 AFS which I have had for many years and which has more than a striking resemblance to the current Leica P300 model (though not identical). I suspect the chassis is the same and produced at the Zett factory in Germany. The current lens (85mm Zeiss Talon 2.8) has a screw fitting and the diameter is about 40mm or so. The thread is quite course and wide. Has anyone else had experience with the Talon lens? I was quite happy until I got the M6 and now i'm thinking I need a little more to release the full potential of the slide. Many thanks. John.

wizard Posted August 16, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2006 Rumours say that the Super Colorplan lens is in fact a rebadged Super Talon lens. If that is indeed true, I would not be surprised if the Super Colorplan would fit on your projector. If it doesn't, try to find one of those Super Talons, they were very good lenses. I recently tried to fit a Leica Colorplan lens to my Rollei MSC 330 projector, just to compare its qualities to the Apogon lenses that came with the Rollei, but unfortunately the Leica lens was a smidge to fat (in diameter that is) and thus wouldn't fit the Rollei. Cheers, Andy
johnbailey Posted August 17, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted August 17, 2006 Many thanks for your help. I have located and bought a Super Talon and wait to see if there is the hoped improvement! John
pilot Posted August 17, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 17, 2006 I use the lens heads from the three element 90mm Elmar and the 135mm Elmar in my old Hanimex projector. These two lenses have no cemented elements so there's no problem with heat. They both make excellent projection lenses with a 250W halogen lamp.
