M6J Posted September 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, nothing serious really, but it was my first little "ooops!": Menu>Sensor Cleaning>Inspect sensor>Yes>Press shutter release>Freeze Everything frozen, switch to "Off", nothing happened, remove battery for 10 seconds, put it back>everything back to normal. I did the same series again, everything worked as it should and I inspected the sensor normally. I wonder, is there a place or thread where we can write our remarks to be used for a future firmware fix, just in case noone else reported it before? Vieri Posted September 19, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It has happened to me two or three times, fixed by taking off the battery and putting it on again (a common fix for many of the M8's quirks...) without waiting 10 minutes, it works the same way if you put it back in immediately. I hope Leica will include this in a fix - it's somehow inconvenient to have to deal with it - but at the same time I think there are more urgent priorities in the fix list, generally when one is cleanins one's sensor one has time to spend, and the extra 15 seconds to remove and reinsert the battery aren't - IMHO - the end of the world. I can induce this type of "sleeping state" for my M8 at will: try the switching sequence On-Off-On quickly and you are good for the battery remove re-install process:rolleyes: BTW, since early description of SDS I feel that the M8 circuit managing/surveying the battery voltage is not full prove (the T2 syndrome? ). I have never had it happen at the end of cleaning the sensor. PanaLeica/Oly have a very effective sensor cleaning system, in fact probably the best currently available. Why doesn't Leica license it for use on the Ms fer Pete's sake? If Panasonic wants to brand image their lenses with the Leica logo I would think that the sensor cleaning tech would be a nice addition to the contract Leica has with them. Either that or there is more load on the battery at this point for some reason that's pulling down the main bus voltage. That's how I had my own (and fortunately singular, thus far) freeze experience. Flipped the switch on, went a bit too far to the "C" setting, flipped it back, went a bit far to the "OFF" setting, finally managed to flip it back to the "S" setting ... but this was all to fast and confusing for my poor M8.
