Hello,

has anyone experience with the TL 18mm/f2.8 lens and compared it with the Leica X2? How does it perform wide open?

I want a smaller camera, almost pocket size, for business trips but also cycling and skiing, when size and weight are a matter. That's why the TL with 23mm already can be disregarded.

Two options at a reasonable price for that purpose are a TL body + the 18mm lens or a X2 in mint condition. An Olympus viewfinder from my XV is available and would fit to the X2.

Thanks a lot for your help/recommendations.

I have the CL and the 18mm pancake. Same sensor as the TL2. Great lens, the results are fantastic. no doubt the TL2 option will give you the best results. Just screen viewing issues as mentioned by others but you have that with the X2 as well.

if you are after a small aps-c pocketable option then you could also look at the Ricoh GRiii in 28mm or 40mm. It’s also quite a bit smaller. Still viewing via a rear screen but unless you go for the CL or Fuji x100 then that’s the price for minimal size.

Leica T and TL have the same sensor as X2, X Vario and X typ 113.

X2 is better if you value small form factor, flash (X2 leaf shutter is way better) and 35mm equivalent.

X2 has more direct control and closer focusing distance.

T and TL have better screen.

X2 uses very old Leica EVF 2 whereas T/TL uses Visoflex typ 020. For 2022 both EVF are quite disappointing
