Leica Digital capture (latest version ?)

Tethered shooting with the M8 (to the best of my knowledge only possible by the Leica Digital Capture software) on a mac v 1.04 is unusable.

the connection between the camera CONSTANTLY freezes/crashes or drops connection.

not only that the amount of power drain to the M8 battery seems to be quite severe.

I have been shooting tethered with several different model canon dSLRs with C1 Pro for many years now, and in comparison the Leica software flat out sucks.

I would complain more to encourage the Leica development team to improve the software, but at this point, I would rather the company spend their time and efforts improving on the M8 firmware.

to sum it up. LOVE the camera, HATE their tethering software.

hope this helps

I agree Andy , i run mine through digital capture than auto import into LR so i can see bigger previews but I would really love them to upgrade this software by a large margin. It is very useful in many cases for me and the work around is a PITA. You can point to it with C1 also but really it is slow

Functionally, the problem of having to use the Leica on battery power is a serious problem, as well.

I believe that when shooting tethered, that the files are written to the computer and not to the SD card.

Previous postings have indicated that this function is not ready for prime time.

I, too, agree that there are higher priorities in the short term.

Bill it writes to the computer which is fine but the preview needs to be big in order to be a stand alone tethered program. i wish some 3rd party would come along on this .

Guy, maybe that same 3rd party will develop a way to power the M8 externally, as well.

This would be very welcome for long shoots, even if not using a tethered setup.

I'll take other stuff first, tho, like SDHC for example. I know, we've got a laundry list. It's a good thing they're good guys.
