ho_co Posted September 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) These questions have all been answered before, I think, but never all in one place: 1) Does Milich filter adapter for CV 12mm take the same 68mm cap as John's adapter for CV 15mm? 2) Apparently the Milich adapter for CV 15mm is sized such that it handles the Leica filter's mount better than those of some other brands. Is that also the case for the Milich adapter for CV 12mm? 3) Could someone compare using 486 and 489 filters with the CV 12mm? I assume that the workflow for using the lens with 486 filter and correcting with CornerFix is only slightly more cumbersome than using it with 489 filter? Are colors noticeably different between the two procedures? Thanks! --HC
Advertisement Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Hi ho_co, Take a look here CV 12mm + John Milich hood + filter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jlm Posted September 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2007 the OD of the 15mm filter adapter is 68.2mm the OD of the 12mm filter adapteris 66.5mm sizes were chose to maximize shading; sorry they vary. maybe next time... both adapters are internally threaded to fit 39 and 55 filters, repectively. they were matched to Leica filter threads and set a bit on the loose side. thses are presumably standard thread sizes. I have not personally tried other filter brands, but is is possible they vary. One thing i did find with the WATE adapter is that, while it was sized when only the B+W 49mm filter was available, and the adapter uses only the glass, the 49mm Leica glass also fits. the 49mm Heliopan glass is slightly too large in OD however. John-- Thanks for the response! IMHO, better to optimize function than to design for 3rd-party add-ons! I'll soon be placing an order. --HC
