ejg1890 Posted September 15, 2022 Share #1  Posted September 15, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) While on a trip to Europe I came across a Leica iiic at a store. The camera looked good and appeared to be a great deal. However, looking into the camera I saw the film take up spool was missing. We checked out the M2/M3 spool but that was in compatible.  how easy is it to find a film take up spool for the Leica iiic? Where can I find one? eBay has them available but at $115-$150 each which to me appears outrageous. Thoughts are appreciated.  thanks.

Anbaric Posted September 15, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) Previous thread on spool compatibility: I wonder if a FED/Zorki spool would work? Otherwise, 'outrageous' pricing is unfortunately par for the course when it comes to desirable vintage Leica accessories. Anbaric Posted September 15, 2022 Share #3 Â Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) On the last point, after a bit of Googling I see a few claims that Soviet spools are compatible, at least in some combinations, e.g.: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalogCommunity/comments/sxr78s/are_zorki_take_up_spools_interchangeable/ https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/hook-type-take-up-spool.489958/ and there are ebay listings selling them that suggest the same. Unless you get really lucky with a Leica spool, that would be the cheapest option (if it works). Edited September 15, 2022 by Anbaric
