There is a slight difference in the distance from the hot shoe to the thumb notch on the camera, not much but enough to make it look like a poor fit. Have you priced the Leica thumb grips? The Match Technical Q-P thumb grip is relatively inexpensive by comparison, and it's the ONLY option that will match the Q-P's matte paint finish. A few months ago I was looking for a glossy black paint version for my m10r, thankfully the good people of camera west had one. The Thumbs Up for the Q is still $105 USD less costly than the "official" Leica version. I have the Thumbs Up version on my Q2 and it is well worth its price tag.
