Afternoon,

Thought I would share some findings here:  I have successfully configured my Leica Q2 to fire the Rotolight AEOS 2 with the Elinchrom Skyport for Nikon.  The flash is firing at shutter speeds of 1/1000 and above with no apparent banding with the camera at F1.7.

At first, my LCD (exposure preview) was blinking (dark-bright, etc) before taking an image, but a little experimentation and Youtube (Adventure & Art), I went to page 2 of the menu, exposure preview PASM or PAS...you have to select PAS...(I am also shooting in manual), this means I will not get a preview of my manual exposure, which is fine for me.

Hopeful to get some test shots soon with a model...but just wanted to add these findings here.

It's great isn't it? I've been successfully shooting with the Profoto system with it and I'm very happy.

Apologies if you're all over this, but the reason there's no banding is that this amazing little camera has a leaf shutter rather than a focal plane shutter, which means that you can also just use a little speed lite or whatnot and control the ambient using the shutter speed the same way. Big fan of that.

Regarding having to change your exp preview mode, I've set up a button on my SL2 to swap that, I keep meaning to see if there's something I can assign for that on the Q2 as well, it's really handy having something to press easily for this.

Look forward to see what you get up to with the Roto!

The best way to control exposure preview with the SL2 and Q2 is to setup separate user profiles.  I have one specifically for use with speedlights and strobes named Flash, wherein I set P-A-S and other useful tweaks like fixed ISO.  For my street profile I enable auto-ISO, P-A-S-M, continuous low speed drive, etc.

I did try user profiles once.. but I find in the heat of battle I just change everything to where I need it at the time and mess it all up.. I think for my dumb brain easily accessible buttons just works better!
