Hacker Posted September 15, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm new to the M8 and have always wondered that if the coding for the 21mm ASPH is used for the CV or Zeiss equivalent (Code: 011000), was there any reason Code: 000001 was not tested? If there are different characteristics that need correction specific to a certain lens, why then would not the tests be different since the third-party lens may have a code even different for Leica equivalents? Same goes for the other lenses like a Noctilux which when used on a FF camera, is f/1.0 in the center but f/2.0 at the corners (so the price differential is for speed at the center). But used on a cropped camera, this may not be so pronounced. Leica M8 Lens Codes Also, would tests conducted specifically for the M8 have a different result from say the Epson? If the 21mm ASPH has more center sharpness and edge softness relative to a Zeiss as an exanple, would this be more beneficial on a cropped camera like the Epson instead of a film camera? Sorry for all the newbie questions and thinking out aloud.
