RMF Posted July 18, 2022 Share #1  Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I ordered an LLL 35mm 8 Element on a whim to compare with my 1966 35mm Summicron v1 8e. Many here have already done detailed rendering comparisons between the real/clone but just wanted to show you a few exterior comparisons. I’m not associated with Light Lens Lab at all, but just a curious 8e owner to see what this clone is all about. The quality (the haptics, feel, coatings, finish) of this LLL lens (and the lens hood) is pretty impressive.  Not sure if I’ll keep this LLL since I have my 66’ 8e but it’s certainly an impressive offering.      Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Hi RMF, Take a look here Leica 35 Summicron v1 8e & LLL 35 8 Element. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dennis Posted July 19, 2022 Share #2  Posted July 19, 2022 There is plenty of information here: I have the V6LC and like it very much. It's my only 'old-look' 35mm. Never used the original 8e, I can't personally tell you the differences. But I really like the LLL. But I already told you this ... 3 hours ago, RMF said: Not sure if I’ll keep this LLL since I have my 66’ 8e but it’s certainly an impressive offering. You can keep both of them. Why not?
colint544 Posted July 19, 2022 Share #3  Posted July 19, 2022 I bought an eight element back in 1998, for £400. Sold it in 2011 for £1650. Now they're going for double that. Kind of wish I'd hung onto it!

The v1 is an amazing little lens, super compact, little distortion, stunning build quality, and just a pure joy to use; there is good reason why they are really desirable and I can’t see that ever letting up (unless the price climbs to the stratosphere). I think the introduction of the LLL 35 has also heightened/renewed interest in the original as well.    1
