From answer 4.6: "As soon as alternative technologies come to market that will ensure this imaging power, Leica will make these available for our customers. Today, statements as to when and in which camera model they could be introduced cannot be made. "

They even made a note that they are considering the possibility of an improved IR filter on the sensor, if the technology should allow it later on.

So I am not the only person who read that and came away with the impression that there was the possibility of an M8 upgrade. The first sentence seems so but the second sentence seems to point toward a new camera.

Maybe I am reading too much into this but when Leica says "...which camera they could be introduced in..." that leads me to the following thoughts:

1. "which" infers choice as in more than one, is Leica aware that they only make one digital camera?? the R9 / DMR is not EU lead complaint and doesn't suffer from IR/UV issues anyway

2. Isn't this the second reference recently from Leica about another M camera, the first was something about whats a leica engineer to do if a 36 x 24 senor was available for the m8 by Dr. Kuafman (not sure i got that name right)

3. Maybe the new R10 is going to include this IR/UV "feature" just for consistency sake even though they could probably put a quarter of an inch coating on the sensor and still be fine...

Just some random early morning musings...
