Q2M no focus peaking

Fairly new Q2M (less than 500 shots) - focus peaking not working.  I have automagnification turned on.  No matter which focus peaking colour I select, I get nothing.  I can see little, single pixel flickering all over that matches the colour I selected.  Even in autofocus, focus is soft.  First 10-20 shots were fine.  I did a camera reset with no change.

Any ideas?

Clarify

Check that you’re not in Macro as a start point. Is the barrel of the lens moving freely when you put the lens into manual mode? I would turn off all focusing aids and see if the camera autofocuses correctly.  If so then add back in peaking on its own and check the sensitivity level, then try magnification on its own. If all that works then see if it still works when you add peaking and magnification back together.

Oh good grief - I had it in macro mode 😞
