I’m new to the forums. I have a delux 7 I bought about 2 years ago. I’ve been shooting non stop and love the results.

just a little background I am a marine engineer managing s fleet of ships so I am constantly in shipyards and amazing cities on the east coast of the us primarily.

I have been taking tons of photos but I always leave the camera in essentially auto. Im wondering what are the main things I need to learn and what are the settings you put yours in for great (daytime) photos.

I know this is broad and I did sign up for a photo class which I hope helps. I’ve been getting great pictures out of my dlux.

what is your favorite settings when taking pictures?

Welcome!  Why not explore different exposure modes with your zoom set at, say, 50 mm equivalent, starting with aperture priority? Learn from your results. Then explore the scope of other control buttons. Make notes of what you are doing so that you can repeat operations which please you.

There are many ways of learning. I find it better with a camera in hand, so it is immediately 'do-able'.

Share your findings on the forum, to help others and get pertinent feedback. Happy and productive shooting!
