tedd Posted May 25, 2022 Share #1  Posted May 25, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi gang, I've got a project coming up that would be made immeasurably easier with an IR shutter release function. I've searched the menus and the manual (I may be blind..), but I cannot see this functionality anywhere. I'm about ready to concede that it doesn't exist and I may need to just buy a cheap Canon for this project if I can't find a suitable workaround, but thought that I'd check here in case I've missed it. This is to do some product photography for work and having the camera sync with an automated turntable for 360 imagery. I may be able to use the interval function and time it correctly, but this will span over a couple of hundred SKU's by the time we're done and I just want it quick and easy. Cheers! Chuck Albertson Posted May 26, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted May 26, 2022 I'm not aware of any infrared triggering capability on the SL 601. I've always made do with the mechanical/push-button remote switch that plugs into the side of the camera.
tedd Posted May 26, 2022 Author Share #3  Posted May 26, 2022 Pretty sure that it doesn't exist 😢 I've always made do with either a 2 second timer or the FOTOS app, but in this case I'd rather the turntable trigger the camera and I believe it can only do so via IR. Too niche a use I suppose and I'll have to either find a good workaround or just buy a cheap camera with the functionality baked in. Thanks anyway!
