New M10M - shutter button stopped working after 6 days (less than 500 activations)

I received my new M10M last Thursday and it is so far my favorite camera of all times. Laws of physics, who cares, just grab the Monochrome and a Noctilux and do whatever you want 😉

Fast forward to Wednesday this week: Shutter button only reflects 'half press', does not allow me to take pictures. Temporary fix: Screwed in Leica OG 'M10' labeled soft-release button, which motivated the camera to take pictures half of the time, sometimes requiring multiple attempts to engage the shutter. Observation yesterday is that responsiveness appears to be deteriorating ... Spoke with Leica NJ today, will have to send in the camera, expected turnaround 4 weeks.

Serial number is 56485xx, for those keeping track of batches and presumptive fixes to the assembly process to eliminate the recurring issues with M10 shutter assembly reported in this forum.

Bummer.

Mzbe,  Depending on where and who you purchased your new camera, you should be able to simply ask for an exchange for another new one.  There should be no issue if you bought from a Leica Store or boutique.  If you bought the camera from say B&H Photo, all you need to do is get a return authorization number from Customer Service, repack the camera insure all the cords, charger, documents and box are sent back to either get an exchange or refund.  If you used a credit card for the purchase, you might call them and see what they say about getting the dealer to exchange it.  I wouldn't put up with having to send it to Leica NJ for a repair.  r/ Mark
