Cry for help from a new Q2 user.  My camera’s EVF regularly fails to come up with an appropriate brightness level.  More often than not I have to stop what I’m doing (focusing, composing, etc) to manually adjust the brightness level up to a point where it looks normal.  In other situations the EVF display is way too bright.  I was under the impression that the camera would make these adjustments automatically depending on the brightness of the scene.  If this is user error on my part I’d really appreciate it if you could set me straight.  This problem is driving me nuts.  Thanks !

Check your exposure preview settings...usually set to PASM which would give you a EVF image corrected for exposure in all modes.

If that doesn't help, check to see if you've inadvertently left exposure bracketing on.  Sometimes bracketing will display the extreme + or - however many stops it was set for when last used.

Oh and welcome to the forum!

OK.  This may be too obvious but I will ask.  Are you shooting in manual exposure mode?  (shutter, f-stop, ISO)?  If so, the viewfinder will show the actual exposure you have dialed in, be it under or over exposed or just right.

Sorry if this is off base.

Thanks for the suggestion, Aram, but I;m not shooting in manual exposure mode.

Thanks for your suggestions and for the welcome !  I have my exposure preview settings set to PASM and I don't have exposure bracketing turned on.  And just to confuse things even further I've noticed that the severity of the EVF brightness error is not constant.  Sometimes it's extreme and other times much less so.
