Is there a way to tag a photo (not GPS tagging) in camera so I can injest only my tagged images instead of the whole card? The M8 allows you to do this with the "protect" button. However, the M10 only allows you to "rate" a photo and my software doesn't recognize the "rate" or star attached to selected photos. I am using M10-R and M10-P.

Let me explain my workflow. I am a professional photographer and I shoot a lot of pro sports on deadline with Canon gear. After shooting a play I chimp the camera and select the best shot and "tag" it. I use Photomechanic software (industry standard in photojournalism) to injest my photos from the card and automatically attach a caption to each photo injested. Rather than injesting the entire card each time, the software identifies tagged photos and only injests them. From there I do whatever post processing in Photoshop. Later when I'm not on deadline I injest all of the untagged photos for a second edit. This is the same workflow that my colleagues shooting Nikon and Sony use as well.

I seldom tag photos with the Leicas because it is generally a different and slower workflow. However, I have a job this weekend that will require me to file photos taken with my Leaica throughout the day. It would be a lot more convenient to just work tagged photos while on the run.

Thanks

Good news, Adobe Bridge RECOGNISES my in-camera star rated images from M10-R. Fits your workflow like a glove. You can import only starred images from the card and batch rename them (or whatever you usually do).

Thanks, but unfortunately Bridge does not fit into my workflow. Photomechanic uses industry standard IPTC fields and FTP functions.

Leica M is not exactly the industry standard for this kind of work either... If Photomechanic software does not support Leica M10 rating and you insist on using the "industry standard" layout there is not much you can do I guess.

Good point. Too bad since the M8 tagged images just fine. There must be a way since Bridge recognizes the stars as tags.
