smgorsch Posted September 11, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having lurked about intermittently for months, I'm aware that sudden camera death is experienced by some M8 owners & that reinstalling and/or replacing battery can lead to successful resucitation. Well, I have recently been experiencing this (acutally seems that my camera may not be turning off when in off position & is then draining battery dry). No problem if I change out or reinstall the battery. My question is whether I really should send this back to Solms for some sort of fix (which I will miss dearly) or whether I can keep on going safely as is (since I don't mind the 1 minute inconvenience). What I fear in the latter case is that my camera will progressively deteriorate the minute the warranty expires & I'll be left with a cold, lifeless piece of metal. Any recommendations? Guest guy_mancuso Posted September 11, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2007 This is not SDS. SDS is when the camera fails to work the LCD controls although you maybe able to take a shot on battery reinstall the menu and set selections do not work and than the camera will not shoot anymore. Yours sounds like a on/off switch issue in the electronic end of it. Are you in the States

Sometimes the firmware is erased, I don't know why. It never occurred to me, but a friend told me he resucitated it by inserting a SD card with a firmware version on it.
