The two RAW conversions, likely made with Adobe Standard, demonstrate very different rendering, dynamic range and, I guess, WB. The input profile treats both images in the same way, so when the input is different, the output will be different too. Exactly my point. If it’s a true portra/velvia/HP5/whatever simulation then it would be capable of taking different starting points and mapping them into very similar output points. I’ve never heard of a profile company saying something (truthful) like ‘this preset looks a lot more authentic if you shoot an M9 not an M10’ 😅 The only way to close the gap between different camera platforms within adobe is to provide a dcp file that handles the chromatic adaptation from un white balanced RAW data to a common colour space, then apply the preset on top of that. adobe’s not good enough (for one thing their dcp solution has evolved considerably in the past 10+ years) which is why just providing an xmp based RGB color table that fits every camera can never yield consistent results… which is a bit pants when the product claims to make cameras A, B, and C look like blah blah blah whatever, but it physically can’t = because it makes no adjustments for different starting points. ergo, at least VSCO and Cobalt attempt to harmonise the starting points with bespoke dcp files… it appears the current iteration of the RNI product does not. That doesn’t make it bad. Even if it was great… I wouldn’t be the target audience anyway.
