HuntingSand,  It could well be sensor corrosion.  Initially, I thought it might be debris etc on your sensor.  Experience says otherwise.  If you are close to a Leica Store, you might take it to them for a good look.  I don't remember if Leica still replaces the S006 sensors.  You might talk options with the store as well.  The camera system is worth keeping especially the S lenses.  If the sensor is either to costly or cannot be replaced by Leica, the option is trade it if the store will take it and pick up a used S007 or SL2 w/S to L adapter (For example; Camera West in Rancho Mirage CA) that are going for very good prices these days. I know this isn't what you wanted to read.  Perhaps others will offer you their sage advice.  r/ Mark

Based on experience with my S(006)Which had the sensor replaced about 4 years ago,  I believe you have sensor corrosion over pretty much the whole sensor. Leica no longer replaces the sensors on the Typ 6 as they don't have CCD sensors available.   I've heard of third party exchanges but understand there have been mixed results with those attempts.

Sorry for the bad news.

On a positive note the S lenses work great with the S to L adapter on the SL2 series.

Spots with a halo around them are sensor corrosion spots. Like below:-

Leica replaced an S2-P sensor for me in December 2021. Have they run out since then?  I'll ask my contact.

Mine was done this January. Perhaps you meant that they no longer replace sensors for free?

Sorry,  I stand corrected.  I had been told by NJ that sensors were no longer replaced, must have misunderstood.  I guess they meant under warranty for no charge.

And now? Then make an ad in the marketplace! Like me.

It's on ebay.co.uk at the moment. I prefer to have the Seller Protection that ebay offers (despite them taking large fees!).

Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions. The mystery is solved. Those hundreds of spots suddenly appearing in my images from that particular location were caused by .... BEES! 😄

If you mean pollen, then that can be hellish to clean off!

Nope. The real livewire bees that zip around those hives at the bottom of the watertower. The camera froze them in time and space, and during the processing of the files those spots appeared in the final image as if my sensor had been strewn with debris. Very disconcerting for a moment (I've dealt with sensor replacement on this body two years ago).

That's GREAT news indeed!!!  The dark center with halos looked like corrosion but it wouldn't have started that suddenly.  Mine began with just a spot of two and then grew to cover the sensor.  SO glad that's not the case with your camera.

Besides the spots, I now also have banding on my sensor! 😞
