R6.2 and a Nikon SB800? Does the SB800 offer any advantage over a 285HV?

I have an SB800 and an R6.2 and they share the same pin configuration.   I've searched online and in the forums looking specifically for any guidance as to the ability of the SB800 to perform on the R6.2.   It appears in the M8/M9 that the flash works in auto but not TTL, and I'd expect to see the same behavior from the R6.2 and an SB800?   My question is this:  is there any reason to prefer the SB800 over a 285HV?  I've got five of the 285HVs I've had for years, and they remain workhorse flashes that work well on auto mode.

Has anyone used an SB800 on an R body and gotten anything other than or more than simple auto mode operation?  I know I could do some exhaustive testing on my own, but I"m hoping to learn vicariously from others' experience.

Thanks!
