SL2-s slight pause during video recording

When I press the shutter button to start recording video, the recording starts with no problem, but within the first 1/2 second the display will freeze on the current image being recorded for about 2 seconds, and then continue as normal. The video playback does not have the frozen image, and plays back normally. So it leads me to believe it’s just the problem is happening between the sensors output to the evf and lcd, not sd card. 
I’m using the same SD card as i have always used, and never had problems before. I was using a new battery though.
