HaytonJ Posted April 4, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I'm in need of a replacement lens cap for my Q, ideally something sturdier than the original! And looks good too. Any recommendations? Thanks

ianforber Posted April 4, 2022 Share #2 Posted April 4, 2022 I use the Q-cap https://otect.co but plenty here prefer the Match Technical lens cap
iRandom Posted April 4, 2022 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2022 The ingenious Q-Cap is well-made and is great for size and ease of use. Unfortunately, I kept knocking it off when I was carrying the camera although that may be specific to how I carry my camera. The Match Technical has no problems staying on, but it takes more effort to remove and it takes up more room when it isn't on the camera. It does have the tether if you don't mind it hanging off the camera. 2

Jay B Posted April 6, 2022 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2022 I really like the Op/Tech Hood Hat in mini size, easy to remove and put on, and gives protection to the whole lens. Very good deal for $8.00 https://www.optechusa.com/hood-hat.html Welcome, dear visitor! I'd bet they sent you the micro size by mistake, the mini slips on and off quite easily....on a Q.

I also have the mini size. Easy to get off or on, even with gloves. I can stuff it in a pocket or the bag, but when it is on the camera it adds a bit of bumper protection. And the price means that even as an experiment, it is not a big investment.
HaytonJ Posted April 11, 2022 Author Share #10 Posted April 11, 2022 Thanks everyone! I'm looking into the Q-CAP and pretty impressed by how it looks - some good images on their website/social media of how it looks on the Q https://www.instagram.com/otect.co/

Herr Barnack Posted April 20, 2022 Share #12 Posted April 20, 2022 I have one of these on my Q2: https://leicastoremiami.com/collections/match-technical/products/lens-cap-lc-sr-01-for-leica-q-and-q2-by-match-technical?variant=29806746206252 They are a little on the costly side, but they are worth the asking price in the long run.

William Cook Posted April 20, 2022 Share #14 Posted April 20, 2022 I bought this tethered leather lens cap from eBay, but there is one on Amazon as well for a few extra dollars. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165249496707?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2679a33683:g:ddcAAOSw4xdhxVEr&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAAA8GrApONOiPOnmi4yjJP9u1kWbhTSCP9lKBX9Q74BcrG7rxTP%2F5cJUoBmXtRo52OQOrPRQDnWJeL%2F7oao0P2oo%2FyBNU83Y%2FqsgScLIqbLW3y6%2BowWQORiVHZNSfjtbHuB76EHUv70h%2BDpY%2F3lCMtzWYWsDTWkjm%2F7KE1CJ6VnhQ183pZyS1Rzqlu%2BEnxYN0As%2BfYzBu%2BJEyUYsqOTYb7zAstb5qifh2Gp%2FSDpe2NB1eCBgXMPcrz2KAynMQvmTaySvCNCK2hBSbbqWAafa7a01JGr76%2F%2BRZoCqUQCrvgmU24MJdHL%2BL%2BdDY55g7kMBIPiSQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBMnK7T-ohg

NWPhoto Posted January 21, 2024 Share #16 Posted January 21, 2024 (edited) I was checking out the Match Technical cap and it reminded me of the Lumix LX3 I had with the tethered lens cap. I never liked the cap dangling off my shooter. If I decide to purchase the Match Tech cap, I'll tether it to a ring on my camera bag, and it's always there when I bag my shooter, and won't get lost. For dangle-free shooting. As for neoprene covers. Nice when new, but eventually may leave neoprene bits on the front element. Also, it appears the rubber Match Tech cap is easier to keep clean.
