Is there a particular menu line that would change my current 80+/- mb per image file to a more normal 40+/- mb per image file?

then a workaround is this :

The camera provides uncompressed image quality. there is no setting for compressing DNG.

You can shoot in cropped mode Super35. Less pixel, smaller file size .

the benefit is better IQ, better tonal range, less banding in shadows, Less in camera processing, quicker to card writing
