tombre Posted March 9, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the Leica SL2 and bought the 70-200mm f4 Panasonic lens which I have been very pleased with. I therefore also purchased the Panasonic 1.4x convertor but when I attach this to the camera I get a message along the lines of "Lens firmware update required". My Leica SL2 firmware is updated to Version 3.0. Has anyone successfully used the 1.4x convertor on the SL2. If so, could you point me to the relevant firmware update required. I have this lens and the Panasonic 1.4 teleconverter and I remember seeing this error message too. You have to update the 70-200 firmware to the latest version. You can download these from Panny's website and install as usual by copying the firmware on a SD card and installing it from the Leica SL2 menu https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/index4.html Both lens and converter works really well on the SL2/SL2s. tombre Posted March 19, 2022 Author Share #4 Posted March 19, 2022 Thanks for the response Simone. Unfortunately it still didn't seem to work for me. I downloaded the Panasonic firmware file, put it on an empty SD card formatted in the Leica SL2, attached the lens and tried to update the lens firmware. The camera seemed to recognise there was a firmware file there (when I put a completely empty SD card in, it told me there were no firmware files detected), but then failed to initiate the firmware update. In the end I took the lens and camera back to the dealer, and used a Panasonic S5 body to update the lens firmware, and it now seems to work on the Leica SL2. Wasn't exactly the seamless L-mount experience I was expecting. Interested if anyone else has had issues doing lens firmware updates using a Leica SL2 body, as I now own a few Panasonic and Sigma lens alongside my Leica lenses, and I'd prefer not to have to keep running into the dealer every time I need a non-Leica firmware update applied. Simone_DF Posted March 19, 2022 Share #5 Posted March 19, 2022 It looks like a glitch to me. It worked fine on my SL2S, I was able to update the Panasonic lens firmware
