Chuck Albertson Posted March 8, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted March 8, 2022 (edited) Save it as a profile? I tend to skip step 2; if you just switch the saturation to Monochrome (without switching to JPG capture), the camera will show the image as a monochrome in the viewfinder and on the back screen, whether looking at Live View or when reviewing the image you've shot. This is because the camera uses for viewing the mini-JPG that rides with the DNG file, and the Saturation setting affects the mini-JPG. I also see it as monochrome when I import the image into Photo Mechanic, as it is not a DNG/RAW developer and relies on the file's mini-JPG as well. I use that as a proxy for deciding whether to process it as a b&w. Once you import it into a RAW developer like Lightroom, it dumps the mini-JPG and restores it to full color.
