Why does the Leica Q2 split files between 102 and 103 on the SD Card?

I need help understanding file management on the Q2.  When I take photos, the images are stored on the SD card but when I import them into Lightroom, it seems to vary in how it retrieves the images on my new M1 iPad 12.9.  Once the images get there, LR does a great job and it's very fast.  But it seems I am always hunting for missed files on the SD card.  It has both a "102" and "103" folder on the SD card.  

What is going on here?

you might have created a secondary folder - it can go up to 999 ...

on the Q2M manual it's on page 132 - Data Management

I never import photos in any Editing software as I would like to know where they are and I have my own file system to find them faster if I need to.

1° i copy the files from the SD-Card to the directory what looks like this: /year/country/date (YYYYMMDD) + precise location/type of photos
2° then I import them in Lightroom from there and with the option to leave them there

This gives me the possibility to find the photos fast and avoid that MacOS/Windows store them where the OS wants, and not me.

That's probably the reason why I never encounter the problem you describe.

Your camera will create a new folder every 1000 images.  Or maybe its 999.  Anyway, once a new folder is created older folder will no longer be used unless you reset camera numbering. This is a common complaint when doing software upgrades.   Sometimes (always?) camera numbering is reset when new software is loaded.

You can do that directly in LR, either using an existing or establishing a new folder. LR doesn't store any files, only information about the image files, which can be anywhere you like.
