Charlie F. Posted March 1, 2022 Share #1 Â Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I fell down a 20-metre muddy embankment in a country park with my Leica SL2 and 24-90mm Elmarit on my back. It's covered in mud. I'm scared to death to attempt to clean it myself, does anyone know of Leica repair shops in the UK that can handle things like this? Or is there anyone with experience that can suggest anything I can do? The camera itself turns on OK, but the lens.... oy! I'm in Cambridge. Edited March 1, 2022 by Charlie F. aesop Posted March 1, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted March 1, 2022 Â Â Â Â Â ...hope you are well. For the SL2 + lens, I'd hold tight and contact Leica UK directly (0207 629 1351) for an exploratory chat. Stay safe.
Charlie F. Posted March 1, 2022 Author Share #3  Posted March 1, 2022 Ah... bizarrely, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the number too. I'm bruised and battered [chest, thighs, hands, head, etc] but otherwise OK. I'll survive. 🙂
wizard Posted March 1, 2022 Share #4 Â Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) Hope you get well soon! Regarding your gear, isn't the SL2 and your lens "waterproof"? If so, I'd suggest to carefully rinse your equipment with lukewarm water (no detergents!), holding the lens down. Take the battery out first, and do not reinsert before everything has had time to thoroughly dry. Leica will probably do the same.
