tommonego@gmail.com Posted February 23, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 2008 M8, I didn't use the camera fora couple of months, I tend to use my CL. Anyway there was a battery, in the camera was good last fall, that the camera wouldn't start up with, used my second battery (both Leica from B&H). It discharged over night. I put the first battery in an M8-2 charger and both lights started blinking,I am assuming it means the battery is dead. The second battery that discharged overnight charged fine. Any ideas, this is the third battery that has died on me with this camera. Will probably try the big clunky M8 charger, see if there is any difference. Ernstk Posted February 23, 2022 Share #2 Posted February 23, 2022 I use the Nitecore ULM9 charger for the M8/M9 which works really well on both Leica and non Leica batteries. Ernst
tommonego@gmail.com Posted February 24, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted February 24, 2022 It was interesting, the original M8 charger charged the battery. Wondering if the battery was totally discharged and the M8-2 charger didn't like that.
quietglow Posted February 25, 2022 Share #4 Posted February 25, 2022 Another data point: I recently got a new battery for my M8 from B&H. When I popped it in my Nitecore charger right out of the box, it tried to charge for a few minutes then the charger displayed "error." I put it in the stock (big, clunky) charger, and it charged fine. Since then, no problems charging with the Nitecore.
tommonego@gmail.com Posted March 1, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted March 1, 2022 I was thinking of selling the original charger. Just keeping it in a drawer for emergencies. The M8-2 charger is more of a normal size. I suspect what happened was I hadn't used the camera for a month or two and the battery was totally discharged. Steven Robert Posted March 3, 2022 Share #6 Posted March 3, 2022 That happen to me with a new Leica battery I put it in a Nitecore charger and it would not charge, so I thought that wow a bad battery so I tried it in one of the cheap Chinese charger and it started to charge then I switched it over to my Nitecore and then it started charging and I got a full charge.
