ChetanSThakur Posted February 22, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Members, i am looking for a Diopter or Magnifier for M11, I have not seen any so far on leica website. I want to make sure I am buying the correct size and fit for M11. Any help is really appreciated as I am unable to focus properly on a 50mm 1.4 ASPH lense. Pixeleater Posted February 23, 2022 Share #7 Posted February 23, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Unfortunately for me, a recent eye test confirmed astigmatism and early cataract in both eyes. My OVF days are coming to a close regardless of diopter correction. 😣

My OVF days are coming to a close regardless of diopter correction. 😣 I’ve had astigmatism for many years, and still enjoy using the RF. My glasses correct for both astigmatism and distance, and with aging eyes (71), I now add a +.5 diopter to optimize focusing. My prescription sunglasses also provide relief from light sensitivity. Fortunately for me, the secondary benefit from decades of using sunglasses has been protection from cataracts. That said, many here have reported that cataract surgery has made their eyesight better than ever for RF use. There are forum discussions regarding such stories, along with details involving lens options, etc. Jeff

Paul Your best resource, of course, will be a skilled and experienced eye doc. Each individual has different issues, along with different viewing and comfort preferences, and different post-surgery goals. A good doc will lay out all the options, with pros and cons. It will help the doc to understand how M RF viewing works, if that remains a goal. The good news is that many here have figured out a way to use the M/RF despite all sorts of eye complications. Some, though, might prefer waiting for the M12 EVF version…. 😎 Jeff

I have a SL2 when I need an EVF. 🙂 I’m early in it’s development and was told that I have a few years before surgery becomes necessary. Meanwhile, I’ll check into the Walter Leica eyepiece option. I also have the SL2… totally different shooting experience, for different circumstances. I only use with SL lenses, keeping M lenses on my M bodies. I would never use the Walter eyepiece for astigmatism. Too clumsy, and I need my glasses for general viewing anyway (and sunglasses in daylight), so no point in it. This way I don’t have to take my glasses on and off using the VF. Fortunately my prescription allows me to see the focus patch clearly as well as longer distance. YMMV. Jeff S Posted February 23, 2022 Share #14 Posted February 23, 2022 Best to use thin, flexible, high quality eyeglass frames with scratch resistant lenses to better press against VF. 😉 Jeff
