elansprint72 Posted September 7, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted September 7, 2007 Is this where they recorded the seaside film? I must dig out my DVDs. No! Quite a long way South but the Belle-Epoque villas somehow reminded me of the film. This shot is from St. Palais sur Mer; a place we discovered 20 yrs ago. If I won the lottery................... stunsworth Posted September 8, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) La vacance de? Lovely film. Another small example of where we British should make our alliance rather than where we do:rolleyes: It's a while since I've seen it - I bought a Tati 3 DVD set a few years ago for a ludicrously small sum in France - but the last time I saw it I remember thinking that it could have been a British comedy, it had a kind of almost Ealing feel to it. Tati as the outsider bewildered by the 'normal' world. Almost Basil Fawlty without the anger. There was an appearance of a British couple if I remember. elansprint72 Posted September 8, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted September 8, 2007 My favourite Tati film is Jour de Fete, now that is a vanished France! I've also got Playtime & Mon Oncle. There is a statue of him at St Marc sur Mer, where Les Vacances was shot; I'll get there one day. See here: Stock Photography image of Statue of Jacques Tati at the spot where his photo A bientot.........
