90mm Elmarit Hood Repair

Hi,

My silver Elmarit, the later one with the built-in lens hood version, has succumbed to some sort of etching from the foam in the leather case and has etched an ~ 10mm ring around the top of the hood. My communication with Leica USA was comical and mostly useless. After 2 weeks of back and forth emails, they said they had to get the part from Germany and that it was in stock. A few days later when I inquired about the price of repair, they said they can't get the part. Also, they first quoted the lens hood at $20, so I knew something was off. 

Does anyone have a suggestion for me to get the lens hood replaced on my silver 90mm Elmarit? Should I try a different Leica shop or write to Germany?
