elansprint72 Posted August 14, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ron and William were at Mallory Park recently- this is how it was in the 70's! Both shots taken at the hairpin, as you can see the Dolomites had a problem getting the power down; these cars were 2 ltr but reglarly thrashed the 3.5 ltr Opels and BMW's. Close up shot shows the late Gerry Marshall who sometimes raised his finger to me at this spot, although he was rather busy on this particular lap. Camera was 111c, probably with 5cm lens and Tri-X. Cheers, Pete.

elansprint72 Posted August 15, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted August 15, 2006 Gentlemen, Thank you! But.... oh dear, 5-6 rolls per meeting, 15 meetings per year; where to start? Fortunately I got sick of all this about 1980 and did not return for 20 years! I'll see what I can find but I only have a clockwork scanner. Another problem is that the IIIc was nicked and I resorted to using Pentax SLR's, so those will have to be posted on the LUG site Cheers, Pete. jtharvie Posted August 15, 2006 Share #7 Posted August 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can smell the rubber burning. Pardon the silly question but just what are those cars? Nothing I recognize although I am guessing Alpha? I have seen only 2 in my life and they were a little rounder but oh so pretty. Cheers, JTH
elansprint72 Posted August 15, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted August 15, 2006 John, From left to right: Front corner of BMW 3.5 Saloon, Triumph Dolomite Sprint, Opel...... erm....Monza(?).... another Opel. Triumph at this time was a part of British Leyland, which is now part of history, best forgotten. Cheers, Pete.
jtharvie Posted August 15, 2006 Share #9 Posted August 15, 2006 Thanks Pete, I rather like the Triumph, we didn't get that model here in Canada which is a pity . . . looks like it would have given the GM Vega a run for it's money (the Vega was a popular affordable car often "tuned-up" to race.) cheers, JTH
