Bavaricus Posted September 5, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2007 Maybe 'cos his Notebook doesn't provide firewire?
andybarton Posted September 5, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2007 If that's the case, he should be using a card reader. IMHO, the firewire connector should only be used when the DMR is tethered to the computer and remotely controlled. If you damage the socket (easily done), it's a big bill to put it right. Looks like the two technologies are completely incompatible in any case. What is a Firewire to USB Adapter?
surgiblade Posted September 6, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted September 6, 2007 Thank you all very much for replies, especially the explanatory article url. I am very new to this, having bought a DMR and R8 as a way to go digital with 28,35,40,60macro,135,180 250 and 400mm Leica SLR lenses. It was on the strength of recommendations here that I did that instead of a CAnon EOS. Now my DMR and R* are making their way to Leitz NJ for some adjustment(s) and I am trying to set up for when they return. Mike
