deoman Posted September 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 21-24-28 Leica finder. Yesterday I noticed that the "finder" portion was loose on the mounting leg which goes into the hot shoe. I can wiggle the finder portion and it has a significant amount of play. It did not come this way, so something has loosened up. I notice a very small threaded hole on the back of the mounting leg. Is this the tightening adjustment? If so, what size screwdriver does it take as it's pretty small!! Any other suggestions would be helpful. Regards Dennis
Advertisement Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Hi deoman, Take a look here 21-28 Finder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mark Pope Posted September 4, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 4, 2007 Mine wobbles too, but not enough to worry me. To tell the truth, I have no idea how long it's been like it. I'd be interested to see if it's easily fixable though. All the best
Hacker Posted September 6, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 6, 2007 Is this any good? I have the 21 ASPH and am not considering the WATE, so what is left is the 21-28 VF to use with the 21 ASPH. Would it be an improvement over the built-in VF? I wear glasses.
Tony C. Posted September 7, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2007 The best finder you can buy for a 21mm lens is the Zeiss 25/28. It not only is better than using the M8 finder, but is the best viewfinder I (and many) have ever used. The downside is that it is quite expensive. If money is not an issue, then you shouldn't hesitate. Regards, Tony C.
deoman Posted September 7, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted September 7, 2007 I contacted Leica as well for help. Their emailed solution was to send the finder in for repair. No response at all about the little screw hole on the "foot"or how to tighten it up. Oh well!!
stephengilbert Posted September 7, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 7, 2007 I'd call Don Goldberg at DAG. (608-835-3342) He does very good and fast Leica repairs, and is a nice guy.
