Advertisement Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hi Guest leica_mage, Take a look here Leicas and courtship of women.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest leica_mage Posted August 17, 2006 Share #42 Posted August 17, 2006 I had the exact same experience. Though I keep asking myself, was it because I was carrying my Leica, or was it the fact that I was getting it from the passenger seat of my Ferrari Enzo ? Definitely the Leica. Ferrari has made some of the most beautiful cars ever, but the Enzo certainly ain't one of them... In fact, it's even uglier than the M5!!

leicanewbie Posted August 18, 2006 Share #44 Posted August 18, 2006 Enzo is the name of the model. An extremely limited edition of the supercar that was named after the founder of the company Enzo Ferrari who passed away. Very fast, very loud, and beautiful/ugly depending on who you talk to. And a chick magnet.
stunsworth Posted August 18, 2006 Share #45 Posted August 18, 2006 And a chick magnet. For 'chicks' or the shallowest kind - just remember that if someone is attracted to you by your car, or your camera for that matter, it isn't _you_ that's providing the attraction and attention will probably soon wander ;-)

Findus Posted August 18, 2006 Share #47 Posted August 18, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Man !!!!! the contributors here in this particular thread otherwise (in other threads) seem nice intelligent folk, knowingly (not pushingly) trying to get the information accross in a nice manner, but reading the comments on this thread by these people .... well a real dissapointment. Maybe amongst men the replies might sound very "up there" but boy through the eyes of a woman (not only me) most of the replies are proving the fact that even if men have the "one chromasone addition" men still have a lot to adapt to. ... (some me that is) I don't see it as degenerating it just makes me wonder about the social capabilities and mindset of men ..... (again some men)
stunsworth Posted August 18, 2006 Share #48 Posted August 18, 2006 Michaela, I've actually found sections of this thread quite embarrassing. No wonder there are so few women here.
Guest leica_mage Posted August 18, 2006 Share #49 Posted August 18, 2006 The true roots of totalitarianism in any guise or form are a predisposition toward moralising and pontificating, which are usually neatly framed by a lack of a sense of humour and the inability to perceive and accept the more frivolous sides of life with tenderness and understanding. Few things are as unattractive as any form of Puritanism, which usually fights the pleasures and delights of the senses, and one thing that is definitely unattractive is the inability of those who tend toward such an attitude to let others be, especially when those others are not hostile toward one. Then words such as “shock” and “embarrassment” are pulled out from the neat and tidy drawers of those who lay claim to the right to dictate to their fellow-human beings how to live their private lives and what the “proper” attitude is, as opposed to so scandalously taking delight in light-hearted fun and enjoyment of that which has been given us to enjoy. One of the commonest victims of such sermonising today is the modern chat group, where some self-appointed Pastor is almost always bound to appear and declare that the ways of the unbelievers are sinful. This is ironic, since the chat group or internet forum is by definition an ideal “place” to foster broad-mindedness and the delights of not always having to approach issues heavy-handedly. Men and women can live their personal lives in a very broad array of manners; so long as they do not incite others to destructive, criminal actions and, above all, express their opinions in good faith, they have a right to live out their inclinations and determine their orientations. Some swear by serial monogamy, others will vouch for the wonderful blessedness of matrimony. Still others will renounce the flesh completely and opt to live the life of a hermit. Some of those in turn may choose to flagellate themselves routinely in order to quell the storms of raging carnal lust. Others still are simply not impressed by carnal pleasures. Then again, some are homosexuals. Some are bisexuals. In the nineteenth century, and not only, homosexuality was considered a crime in England – something for which a towering giant of the spirit, Oscar Wilde, suffered most needlessly. In the 21st century, in much of the Western world has shed this approach and opted for that of freedom in the personal sphere, which in the majority of cases is also enshrined in the respective constitutions of States. Whether one opts to be a “lightheaded” flirt – be that a man or a woman -, fluttering from flower to flower, or to marry one’s childhood sweetheart and to live happily ever after, with children and grandchildren, is an entirely personal option. Discussion of such matters, too, cannot conceivably constitute the object of censorship, no matter how indirect, in our societies. And of course I am not talking about child pornography or anything of the sort here. I am talking about the way consenting adults choose to live their lives. ‘Embarrassment’ and ‘disappointment’ do not have their place here, much as haughty, higher-than-thou pontificating do not. And having said that, let one thing be clarified: the nature of life and of human beings is such that it does not remain constant. A man or woman may be a flirtatious, fickle butterfly for many reasons, and those reasons are also often subject to change. Whether the serial monogamist male or female is one out of need, mind set, emotional immaturity, etc., etc., and whether one is throughout one’s life such has been the subject of endless discussion elsewhere – among psychologists, sociologists, sexologists, and countless men and women “on the street”. That discussion does not belong here, as does not the false discussion of whether a man “should” approach another woman or man merely on the basis of carnal lust or on the basis of something else. Or the discussion about whether Platonic love is the highest form of love or not. Or whether childbearing within wedlock is the highest attainment of Man. Lastly, no poster here should be judged and sermonised at solely on the basis of three or four statements, especially when these are delivered good-naturedly and in good faith. Most of us here are not as two-dimensional as fleeting exchanges of witticisms would have it appear. So please: no more ‘embarrassment’ and ‘disappointment’. Relax and enjoy some good-natured repartee without all this heaviness. The thread is, after all, about ‘Leicas and courtship’ – ‘of women’ it adds, but in this day and age when women court men as much as men do women, I am sure the title can take a little flexibility – and therefore the rather giddy nature of the discussion has been predetermined, perhaps to the vexation of those who might have wanted to opt for a more heavy-handed approach. Findus Posted August 18, 2006 Share #50 Posted August 18, 2006 Leica Image.... You must be a man ..... As for you essay..... BS. Dissapointment and emarrassment form a large part of any social structure be it individually or groupwise.... the meaning of these two words can alter from person to person all based on whether or not one can relevate these feelings or bury them as deeply as possible..... KevinA Posted August 18, 2006 Share #52 Posted August 18, 2006 "Good Chick magnets" are personality, openness, intelligence and possibly a huge d*ck.... if you have none of these an "M" will probably get you along a bit .... with very few "chicks" that would arouse your interest .... But as long as you are prickled by the throught of bein able to attract women with you'r "M" .. you wouldn't care less, as long as "it" has a pair of 135mm size boobs and an "ever ready" case..... i will take your advice and carry a huge duck with me when out walking to attract the chicks. Kevin.

Guest leica_mage Posted August 19, 2006 Share #59 Posted August 19, 2006 Leica Image.... You must be a man ..... As for you essay..... BS. Findus, it's not 'Leica Image', but 'Leica Mage'. For a woman - if you really are one - such slipshod retention of others' identities (even if only virtual) certainly strains comprehension. Also, you are terribly rude for a woman. Which makes you highly unfeminine. Bit I suppose some of your customers probably like precisely that about you. Mit besten Empfehlungen,
