Hi, and welcome to the Forum.

The R8 manual (p 59) does say that the R8 with Motor Drive (not the winder) can be set to take 3 photographs one after the other, with an exposure difference of 1/2 or 1 EV between each shot. I do not have the drive, but I suppose you set the lens to the smallest aperture, shutter speed to 1/30th (P) set the option dial to P mode, and the switch on the bottom left of the drive to plus or minus 0.5 EV or plus or minus 1 EV.

More info here...

http://www.leicapages.com/motordrive.html

which has a link to the Drive manual, which states ...

"Depending on the exposure mode selected on the camera, the exposure changes are achieved by varying the lens aperture, the shutter speed or both, so that full creative freedom is retained with this technique as well."

So the shutter priority mode may vary the shutter speed rather than the aperture?  Anyone?

John
