Hi all - I'm sure this has already been covered in quite a few threads already, but I'd really like to self-code my CV15 lens. Problem is, I've tried marking the M8 body with a sharpie at the point that corresponds with the second LED (as directed for WATE self-coding) and then marking the corresponding point on the lens adaptor side while the lens is on the camera, then after removing the lens use the sharpie to mark the black dash...all to no avail - still getting strong cyan vignetting..

Does anybody have any ideas as to where I might be going wrong? I would really like to hear of success stories from M8 owners who have achieved this. Should I just give up & get J. Milich to have a crack. I'm using the Cameraquest 28/90mm screw to M adaptor.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

No need to send anything to John Milich, except the payment for a self-codable screw-to-bayonet adapter. You code it yourself with white and black model builder's enamel paint, according to Carstens' information. While you are at it, I also strongly recommend John's front filter adapter, which makes it possible to use a 39mm UV/IR cut filter on the lens. John does a very good job indeed.

Cosina/Voigtländer's own adapters are in fact uncodeable. It is possible to pick up an ancient (1950's to 60's) Leitz bayonet adapter and hand-code it, but I doubt that this would be worth the trouble.

It is tougher to do on some lenses than it looks. I have coded all my CV lenses except my 21P (21mm voigt lens with an M-mount) as I just cannot get the M8 to recognize it. There is a fascinating thread in the Rangefinder forum about a possible custom made plastic adapter- go here for the thread (and register at the website if you haven't):
