jimcollum Posted September 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) link Harman Ilford announced this a bit ago, but the paper's finally finding it's way into the stores. It has the look and feel (and smell.. since it's really just uncoated baryta paper) of traditional silver b&w fiber paper. It has a surface similar to that of Oriental Seagull, with excellent black dmax. I'm not saying the prints have the same depth /glow of a silver print (neither does a inkjet on watercolor paper have the same depth as a platinum).... but an inkjet print on this paper is excellent in it's own right. jim

adan Posted September 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2007 Thanks. I'll have to check in at my photo shop that carries Ilford. I tried the FB Matte, and it felt good, but, well, it was matte. Not my cup of tea. I've been waiting to give the Glossy a shot.
Baxter Posted September 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2007 Does this require use of Epson K3 Photo Black, or can the K3 Matte Black be used? I'd ordered a 24inch roll of Da Vinci but then discovered that you had to use the Photo black, my 7800 isn't set up and don't want to wash all that money away flushing systems. I've tried the FB Matte, but was too similar to my other paper, so not worth pursuing.
grdglass Posted September 3, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2007 Is it truly anti-curl? Helene
grober Posted September 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2007 IF you live in the western USA and have access to Costco stores, try their "Kirkland" brand of Professional Glossy Inkjet Photo Paper. (150 sheets, 8 1/2 x 11 inch cost under US$20.00.) An instructor at a local photo school thinks this may be private-labeled Ilford paper. I have no way to confirm this but initial results with this Kirkland paper have been good. -g

It's produced by their photo division, and is actually their silver multigrade FB paper (baryta coated), Instead of the silver coating, they've used an inkjet receptor. jimcollum Posted September 3, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted September 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it truly anti-curl? Helene i hven't tried the matte paper, but the Glossy i'm using is pretty flat.. even after printing. There's a very slight upward curl on the ends... pretty similar to what you'd see in a silver fiber print that's been dried and flattened.

K3.. on a 4800)
