eobet Posted October 14, 2021 Share #1 Â Posted October 14, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Am I missing something obvious here? First time start up, new in box. I can scroll through the languages using the dials, but touching doesn't work to confirm and no buttons work to confirm. The manual says that the side areas around the display are also touch sensitive, but they don't work either (at least on this menu). A new TL2 is supposed to work out of the box, even if no lens is attached, right? PS. Yes, I removed the protective film from the screen because I thought that was the issue, but it unfortunately wasn't. Advertisement Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Hi eobet, Take a look here Can't get past the language select screen on a TL2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shawn30 Posted October 14, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted October 14, 2021 I have a CL not a TL, but yes you can perform the startup without a lens. I'd pull the battery make sure it's fully charged and start over.
eobet Posted October 15, 2021 Author Share #3 Â Posted October 15, 2021 We did charge the battery fully (the screen refused to show anything but a backlight before). But my wife also now found a first setup video and it clearly shows that there should be no issues with the touch screen, so I guess we received a unit with poor QA. Already contacted the place I bought it from so we'll see how this gets resolved.
RM8 Posted October 16, 2021 Share #4  Posted October 16, 2021 1. Have you installed firmware v1.5? 2. (Manual p. 129) Have you tried unlocking the touch screen by making an upward sliding motion, from the bottom, on the right "dark bar" of the screen. Note the manual *erroneously* depicts the long press symbol for this-- this does not work, just a slide up to the middle does the job. Had me frustrated for a while when I got mine from the box last June.
V2cruise Posted October 28, 2021 Share #5  Posted October 28, 2021 Hi, I'm not sure if you've been able to fix your issue, but have you tried to reset your camera? The language should set once you touch your selection so perhaps a reset may help.
eobet Posted October 29, 2021 Author Share #6 Â Posted October 29, 2021 I sent the camera back to the shop and they confirmed the issue and is sending me a new camera. Apparently, it also didn't work with the Visoflex which according to them "could happen" with the TL2, which I must admit I did not expect from a brand like Leica (and a product signed by two QA people according to a note in the box). But either way, I was treated very well and am looking forward to receiving the camera next week (or rather the week after since I'll be out of the country).
V2cruise Posted October 29, 2021 Share #7  Posted October 29, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I too had issues with the Visoflex when I first got it, something to do with the hot shoe from what I understood. All the best with your new camera.
