sandymc Posted September 2, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) CornerFix 0.9.1.0 for the Mac (yes, you read that right) is now available for download at: SourceForge.net: CornerFix CornerFix corrects for the "cyan corners" problem on Leica M8 digital cameras when used with IR filters. Important notes: 1. This is the __FIRST__ beta of CornerFix for the Mac. That means that bugs are not only likely, but pretty much certain. Beware! 2. You must have the very latest version of Mac OS, the one that can display M8 DNGs. The current beta will not work with earlier versions. 3. This beta has all the features of the 0.9.1.0 Windows version - "16-bit" operation, file renaming, etc 4. "16-bit" files are NOT compatible with all raw converters. Specifically, Phase One's Capture One will not read them, at least on the versions tested - both Apple and PC. For compatibility with C1, you need to enable "Level Compression". This may have changed with the new V4 beta - it was promised to be able to correctly read all DNG's, but I haven't been able to run the C1 beta yet to check...... Please read the QuickStart document for important information on compression options. You only need to download the executables - the source code is also posted, but you don't have to download that to use the program. Once you have downloaded, open the ZIP file, and drag the CornerFix.app file to your Applications folder. That's it. All previous lens profile files (.CPFs) including those generated on Windows systems will work fine with the new version. Enjoy! Sandy Welcome, dear visitor! Max Penson Posted September 2, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 2, 2007 Cool! Are you preforming any de-gamma before correction? or are you working in linear data? I have an industrial len shading test instrument, I you need any help I am willing to do some testing for you.
sandymc Posted September 2, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted September 2, 2007 Cool! Are you preforming any de-gamma before correction? or are you working in linear data? CornerFix works in a linear 16-bit raw space..... Sandy
chrism Posted September 2, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 2, 2007 C1 beta 4 works on the DNG's with no compression applied.... Chris
sean_reid Posted September 2, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 2, 2007 Go Sandy! Another round of applause for all the work you've done, on our behalf, for free. I will try to get some 12 and 15 profiles made soon. Cheers, Sean
woodyspedden Posted September 2, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 2, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Let me add my cheers to Sandy for a job well done. I have only had the product for a few hours so am still working on how to use it effectively. I guess the first step is to remove the UV/IR filters from a few wide angle lenses and go shooting. I will repeat all the images with the filter on as well to be able to do a side by side comparison. Sean, we all look forward to your profiles Best Woody Spedden
fjmcsu Posted September 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 3, 2007 Sandy, Again thanks so much. I have worked with the Win version prior & now the Mac,Both have worked quite well.Again I would be glad to contribute via PayPal etc if asked to! No bugs to report.I just batched about 8 images without a problem albeit time consuming.Would it be possible to batch create to a specific folder/directory on a hard drive, etc. rather than just to the card itself ? I did try to import the files into Aperture from the card & the CF images were ignored. I copied them to a folder on the desktop & they imported without a hitch.I tried importing them to Lightroom from the SD card & no problem .Must be an Aperture peculiarity I gather! Francisco, You should be able to batch convert in any folder you want, so you could first copy the files to a folder, then convert. What you can't do is to batch convert to a different folder, which I think is what you're asking for? If so, I'll put that on the list of possible upgrades for the next version. As regards donations, I have now set up the download site such that anybody wanting to can make a donation to the project via PayPal. Just go to the download page (SourceForge.net: CornerFix) , and click on the "Donate" link in the top right corner. Sandy

Has anyone already created a .cpf lens profile for the 15? i know sean said he'd be working it. i concur with what others have said: THANKS SANDY!! barjohn Posted September 3, 2007 Share #13 Posted September 3, 2007 Is there a place to find .cpf files for the various Leica lenses?
sandymc Posted September 3, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted September 3, 2007 Is there a place to find .cpf files for the various Leica lenses? Not as yet - Scott and Carl were at one point looking at doing something, but I don't think anything came of that. To whatever extent people send me profiles, and specifically indicate that they are happy for me to distribute them, I'd be happy to include their cpf files into the downloads on an "as received" basis. But some kind of a website would be a better idea. Volunteers required!! Sandy
barjohn Posted September 3, 2007 Share #15 Posted September 3, 2007 I would be happy to provide a web site and link for .cpf files where users could down load. Just let me know. It would be www.barjohn.com - /photos/cpf/ send me some and I will set it up. Edit: I needed to change the URL slightly. It is corrected above and I put in the .cpf that comes with Cornerfix as a test file. So email them to me at johng@barjohn.com and I will add. I'd certainly support that......and, assuming you do get it up and running, include it into the CornerFix documentation Sandy

sandymc Posted September 4, 2007 Author Share #19 Posted September 4, 2007 Version 0.9.1.1 of CornerFix for the Mac is now available for download from the usual place. This fixes a bug that resulted in an error message when overwriting an image file from the "Save As..." menu. Thanks to Graham to spotting this one..... jlancasterd Posted September 5, 2007 Share #20 Posted September 5, 2007 Has anyone done a profile for the new CV 25mm f4 lens (the one that has an M-bayonet mount and is rangefinder-coupled)? I'm considering buying this lens and am not too keen on trying to remove the bayonet to get it coded - apart from anything else, the screws that hold the bayonet onto my CV40mm are glued in and I expect that the 25mm is the same. If this lens works well with CornerFix I would probably not bother wth coding.
